A boat bearing the bodies of presumed African migrants was discovered on an island in the Caribbean Sea, authorities say.
The 45-foot vessel was located on Monday on Canouan, a small island just south of St. Vincent in the Grenadines.
The remains of 11 people were found onboard by local authorities along with passports for Mali, a West African country that lies more than 3,000 miles away.
The bodies were in an “advanced state of decomposition, and some were not fully intact,” the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) explained in a press release.
“The remains have since been transported to mainland St. Vincent, where they are being kept at the Kingstown mortuary pending further forensic and investigative procedures.”
RSVGPF called the incident “deeply concerning” and said they are working with regional and international partners to verify the origin of the vessel and identify the bodies.
InfoWars has reported on similar ‘ghost boat’ discoveries in the past, including an incident in 2021 when the bodies of 14 African migrants were found in a ramshackle vessel that had departed Mauritania bound for Spain’s Canary Islands before eventually drifting into waters near Trinidad and Tobago.
Earlier this year, 19 bodies were found on another boat off the coast of St. Kitts and Nevis.
