The Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee has called for President Biden’s doctor and top advisors to testify in front of them about his health.
The Committee sent letters to Biden’s personal physician, Kevin O’Connor, and former White House officials Neera Tanden, Anthony Bernal, Annie Tomasini and Ashley Williams seeking testimony.
In the letter to Biden’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer notes that O’Connor deemed Biden “robust” and “fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency” in a February 2024 assessment. Comer asks O’Connor to testify to “ensure accurate information was provided to the American people and your health reports were not subject to any improper influence.”
And in letters to Biden’s former aides, Comer says the Committee wishes to know “who made key decisions and exercised the powers of the executive branch during the Biden Administration.”
Comer previously sought testimony about Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities from a number of his aides during the Biden presidency, and he also campaigned for the release of the audio of President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur.
The requests for testimony come at a time of heightened focus on Joe Biden’s mental capacity during his tenure as president.
Jake Tapper’s new book, Original Sin, released on Monday, reveals how President Biden’s cognitive decline was hidden from the public by his closest advisors, a group Tapper and his co-author call “the Politburo.”
On Sunday, just hours before the release of the book, it was announced Joe Biden has stage 4 prostate cancer which has metastasised to his bones. The announcement was widely seen as a cynical ploy to distract from the impending release of Tapper’s book, and also raised further questions about Biden’s health during his presidency.
A number of senior physicians said it was extremely likely Biden had cancer for most or even all of his presidency, raising the disturbing possibility not only that this was also hidden from the public, but also that the president could have been denied treatment in order to keep him isolated and control him better.
