President Trump’s approval rating has hit a new high as more registered voters say the country is heading in the right direction than at any time in the last 20 years.
In a new NBC News poll, Trump’s job approval rating of 47% matches his all-time high in NBC polls, with 37% of respondents saying they “strongly approve” of him and 10% saying they “somewhat approve.”
Forty-four percent of respondents said the country is also heading in the right direction, which is more than at any time since 2004.
By contrast, the Democratic Party is polling at a record low since 1990. Just 27% of those polled said they had a positive view of the party, with only 7% having a “very positive” view. These low favourability ratings were mirrored in a recent CNN poll, which showed only 29% of Americans have a favourable opinion of the party.
The NBC poll sampled 1,000 registered voters between 7 March and 11 March and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1%.
