An 18-year-old African alleged serial rapist migrant has been charged with rape in the Choisy-le-Roi park in a case involving a young woman last week on Friday. The man, a citizen of Guinea, is also being charged with sexual assault and attempted rape of two other young women in the same park, with the two incidents occurring on April 13 and April 17. Police have arrested the suspect, noting he was not wearing any underwear at the time of his arrest.
The suspect was brought before a court on Sunday and charged.
The first case occurred on April 13 at 9:30 p.m., in which he raped a woman, at which time she came to the police station and filed a criminal complaint. Four days later, a 16-year-old girl was the victim of an attempted rape from the same perpetrator around 8:00 p.m. at the same location.
Police connected the two cases, as both complainants gave the same description of the suspect. In both cases, the women were alone and were attacked from behind.
“The perpetrator put his hand over their mouths to stop them from screaming, and tried to undress them to sexually abuse them,” said a source close to the investigation to ACTU17.
Undercover officers then entered the park for the following days and attempted to catch the suspect. On Friday, the officers learned that a woman had been raped at exactly the same location at 7:00 p.m. The police then conducted a widespread search in the area and found the suspect at 8:45 p.m. They immediately took him into custody and determined he had no previous criminal record.
“His DNA matched that of one of the victims. During police custody, the man generally admitted to the facts,” stated the Créteil prosecutor’s office.
“He was not wearing underwear,” stated the same source.
Not only did the clothing match the description provided by the victims, but the police found him not wearing any underwear. One theory for his lack of underwear may have been to make it easier and quicker to rape his targets once he had them under his control.
He had a travel document issued to migrant minors, which was provided to him in the city of Créteil.
“According to the initial psychiatric examination, he is considered criminally responsible at this stage of the proceedings,” the prosecutor’s office added.
He is now being charged with rape and attempted rape.
“Investigations are continuing, particularly to determine whether this man may have committed other crimes,” the law enforcement source told ACTU17.
