The acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) blasted sanctuary cities for shielding criminal illegal aliens after a mob of underage suspects as young as 12 were arrested for attacking officers in New York City this week.
The shocking incident unfolded on Friday evening in Times Square and witness footage went viral this week, prompting responses from local and federal authorities.
NYPD officers intervened when they saw a gang of ‘youths’ attempting to rob multiple victims on a sidewalk at the intersection of West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue.
The band of marauders then set their sights on the cops, pelting them with various objects before fleeing the scene.

At least five suspects have been arrested in the days since, including a 12-year-old boy with a lengthy rap sheet who is the alleged “ringleader” of the pack, which has carried out a string of assaults and robberies in the Big Apple, authorities say.
Most of the suspects are reportedly teenage illegal aliens living in ‘migrant hotels’ who belong to a gang called Diablos de la 42 – Devils of 42nd Street – which is an offshoot of Tren de Aragua.

ICE agents who turned up at an NYPD stationhouse were reportedly told they weren’t welcome and officers took actions to protect the suspects from being taken into federal custody.
ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons appeared on Fox News this week to address the incident.

“This right here is a pure example of sanctuary city laws failing the people of New York City,” Lyons stated. “With all the arrests that these juveniles had… they should have been removed from the country. Yet they’re continuing to attack law enforcement men and women, who are out there every day. They’re trying to rob old ladies in Times Square.”
“When people don’t cooperate with ICE, American citizens are at risk.”
