On Friday President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow for more peace talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is the fourth time he has traveled to the capital city for these negotiations. The two men spent three hours having “constructive and useful” discussions which “allowed further alignment of the positions of Russia and the United States not only on Ukraine but also on a number of other international issues,” according to Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov. The two also talked about the resumption of direct bilateral talks between Moscow and Kiev which have been frozen since 2022.
Witkoff delivered Trump’s peace proposal, which would see Crimea and a number of other regions of Eastern Ukraine currently held by Russia to be recognized as part of Russia, Ukraine’s Dictator Vladimir Zelensky’s idea of peace rejects giving up these territories, despite Crimea seceding from Ukraine in 2014 via a referendum vote.
While Witkoff’s proposal does not allow for Kiev to join NATO, it does propose that Ukraine have a “robust security guarantee” from European and other Kiev-friendly nations. It also will remove sanctions against Russia imposed by the West after 2014 and
“The European- and Ukraine-backed document reportedly provides more details on security guarantees and states there ‘will be no limits on Ukrainian forces and no restrictions on Ukraine’s allies stationing their military forces on Ukrainian soil.’ It also proposes that the guarantees should contain a collective defense clause resembling the one adopted by NATO. Russia has repeatedly rejected the deployment of NATO forces, or troops from bloc members under a ‘coalition of the willing,’ to Ukraine under any pretext,” RT said.
Infowars reported in-depth on the ‘coalition of the willing’ which appears to have an agenda conducive of expanding the Ukraine war.
President Trump said Friday morning that he hopes to end the Ukraine war very soon and that he believes the U.S. will end up with a lot of good deals, including trade deals, as a result of the peace plan.
However Trump also said that he has no set deadline in mind for the negotiations to conclude, which is somewhat different from statements he made last week and later echoed by Vice President JD Vance that the U.S. is about to walk away from the negotiations if they are not finalized soon.
