Ex-President Joe Biden blasted President Donald Trump for his treatment of Ukraine leader Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House earlier this year, in his first interview since he left office.
Speaking to the BBC, Biden claimed it was “beneath America” to treat his Ukrainian friend in such a manner, going on to blast Trump’s renaming of the Gulf of Mexico, his efforts to take back the Panama Canal and proposals to acquire Greenland and Canada.
“What the hell’s going on here?” asked Biden, adding, “What president ever talks like that?”
“That’s not who we are. We are about freedom, democracy, opportunity, not about confiscation,” Biden said.
Biden also attempted to downplay President Trump’s monumental first 100 days and his fulfillment of campaign promises to voters, claiming he didn’t “see anything that was triumphant” so far.
In another segment of the interview, Biden suggested dropping out of the race earlier would not have helped Democrats’ chances in 2024, admitting “it was a difficult decision” to leave, but that he had no “regrets” about what happened.
Conservative commentators reacted with disgust to Biden’s re-emergence on, of all places, British media.
Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld had harsh criticism for the 82-year-old former president, saying, “Go out literally to a pasture and pass away. He chose BBC because it stands for Biden, bury or cremate.”
Fox News’s Dana Perino also ripped Biden for choosing a foreign outlet for his first post-presidency interview, saying he and Jill are trying to get ahead of damning revelations in soon-to-be-released books.
Likewise, Real America’s Voice host Eric Bolling slammed Biden for assuming anyone wants to hear from him, arguing his latest appearance illustrates to Americans why he was unfit to serve.
No doubt, Biden’s abysmal interview will spawn an entertaining Trump tweet any minute now.
