The White House prompted outrage from Democrats and liberals over the weekend with a few funny memes and posts.
On Friday night, Trump set the internet ablaze with a photo posted to Truth Social showing him in pope attire, as the Vatican looks for a new pontiff following Pope Francis’ death last month.
The post was mirrored by the White House account on X, sparking backlash from Trump haters, including Democrat New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who wrote, “This is deeply offensive to me and to my fellow Catholics around the world as we continue to mourn our beloved Pope Francis.”
Townhall columnist Dustin Grage responded to Hochul with an image of fellow Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer (Mich.) mocking Christians during the 2024 presidential campaign, to which Hochul did not object at the time.

Other X users underscored the selective outrage by pointing to past instances where the left has ignored attacks on Christianity.
Dear atheists and “I’m not Catholic, but..” people who are offended over Trump posting a meme of himself as Pope,

Dr. Fauci has a prayer candle depicting himself as Jesus Christ, the son of God.
Looking forward to all of the official, long-winded statements condemning him. pic.twitter.com/TyJavLxiMC
To everyone complaining about Pope Trump, you were all silent during this…

The same people that had no issue with this pure evil photo are clutching their pearls about President Donald Trump making an AI photo of himself as the pope. pic.twitter.com/oUncoG6VQt

Oh, the outrage over Trump’s Pope meme—from the same crowd that applauded an abortion bus outside the DNC and cheered on the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for mocking Christ.

Truly the moral compass of our time! pic.twitter.com/Kl5Iq1nf8i
Meanwhile, the internet responded with an AI-generated video showing what it would be like if Trump were actually pope.
This is an excellent documentary! pic.twitter.com/L95fVp2Bb3

On Sunday, the White House kept the memes rolling with a post dedicated to the “May the Fourth” Star Wars fan holiday, with an image featuring Trump as a Jedi warrior hellbent on keeping the Sith out of the galaxy.
“Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You’re not the Rebellion—you’re the Empire,” the White House wrote, adding, “May the 4th be with you.”
Triggered Star Wars nerds responded to the post by pointing out Trump was carrying the wrong colored light saber in the AI-generated image.
How do you not have one nerd on staff to tell you what color lightsaber is good and what color is bad???

How stupid are you?

A red lightsaber signifies an aggressive nature, a desire to control and dominate, and a lust for power. It is a symbol of the Sith, of the Empire.
Rebels would never use a red lightsaber.
You idiots DO realize that this shit is considered official presidential communication and gets stored forever in the Library of Congress, right?

Do you WANT historians to point to this period as the dumbest in American history?
