Several members of a Pentagon advisory board, that included holdovers like former Obama National Security Advisor Susan Rice, were fired this week at the direction of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell announced the shake up of DoD advisory committees on Thursday in a statement noting that “changes are needed to support the new strategic direction and policy priorities of the department and to ensure departmental resources are used efficiently.”
The Defense Department also scrubbed the “Defense Policy Board” website of its former membership roster, which included war hawks like ex-Obama aide Rice and former George W. Bush Pentagon under secretary Eric Edelman.
The move was celebrated by Trump advisor Elon Musk and First Son Don Jr., with the latter expressing, “Now you know exactly why the Swamp hates @PeteHegseth so much!”
The firings came as former Hegseth aide Dan Caldwell took a parting shot at the Deep State after being ousted last week, telling Tucker Carlson that the Defense Policy Board was behind recent classified leaks and that its members were “incredibly hostile” toward Trump and his anti-war agenda.
“She and a bunch of other people who are incredibly hostile to the president and his worldview remain on the Defense Policy Board,” Caldwell said. “I would just say, if you want to look where leaks are maybe coming from, that would be a place to start.”
Rice wasn’t too happy about the whole affair, whining to the No Lie with BTC podcast this week that an unqualified “white male Christian cisgender macho MAGA man” from the Trump administration was coming after her, referring to Hegseth.
Susan Rice: “Well, if you’re a white male Christian cisgender macho MAGA man, you can be as dumb as a rock and be deemed qualified to serve as Secretary of Defense. That’s apparently what we’ve learned from this episode.
But let’s also be clear, there’s a serious point here. DEI has been used as a slur to suggest that anybody who might be a woman, might be a person of color, might be a religious minority, might have a disability, might be a religious minority, might be a veteran of Native descent, anybody who has benefited in any way, shape, or form from the notion that we all should be treated equally and that we should be viewed on the basis of our merits and not discounted because we happen to be a woman or happen to be a person of color. Anybody who fits the mold of somebody who is not a white Christian cisgender male, is by definition in this administration deemed inferior. That is the vast majority of the people in this country.”
If Susan Rice is pissed, that’s a good thing. The foreign policy hawk fueled the Obama administration’s involvement in several Middle East conflicts contributing to thousands of deaths. She and others should be facing military tribunals for potential war crimes – not advising Pentagon policy.
