Border Czar Tom Homan was met with protests by unhinged leftists as he visited the New York State Capitol Wednesday to tell elected officials not to impede his push to prosecute and deport criminal illegal aliens.
Far-left activists shouted and carried signs at the Capitol building in Albany, as Homan arrived to meet with the state’s minority Republican officials, touting support for a new state bill similar to the Trump administration’s Laken Riley Act and blasting New York’s “Green Light Law” providing driver’s licenses to illegals.
Footage showed Homan arriving at the Capitol nonchalantly snacking on an apple as he walked by the angry mob.
“I work for a president who wants to save lives … and make this country safe again,” Homan told the press. “You want to hate on me? Hate on me, because I eat it up.”
“Sanctuary cities are going to get exactly what they don’t want: more agents in the community,” the former ICE director stated, adding, “We’ll double the man-force if we have to. Rather than one officer arresting a bad guy, now I have to send a whole team.”
“New York State, you’ve got to change your sanctuary status and if you don’t, get out of the way. We’re going to do our job,” Homan warned Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Homan also took the opportunity to commend Democrat New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ efforts helping the Trump administration tackle the illegal alien situation.
“I sat down with the guy; I saw a career cop in him really concerned about making New York City safer,” said Homan, discussing Adams. “And let me be fair in this: not every criminal in New York City is an alien; not every alien’s a criminal, (a) public safety threat, but there’s some that are. So, I think he shares a feeling with me — if we make New York safer by removing public safety threats … that’s less he has to deal with and makes the community safer.”
Leftist protesters rallied in support of green card-holder Mahmoud Khalil, who was arrested last week at Columbia University after leading pro-Palestinian rallies on campus in 2024, with authorities labeling his speech “pro-Hamas.”
A US district judge in New York on Wednesday banned any attempts by federal authorities attempts to deport Khalil.
Democrat New York State Assemblyman and New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was among the rowdy demonstrators yelling slogans at Homan, with footage showing him pressing his chest up against New York State Police, prompting many to ask whether he’s a politician or an activist.
“How many more New Yorkers?” Mamdani yelled at the border czar amid a cacophony of shouts. “How many more New Yorkers will you detain? How many more New Yorkers without charges? Do you believe in the First Amendment, Tom Homan?”
The New York Post reports: “State troopers hauled Mamdani away from Homan, but didn’t arrest him or any other protesters.”
On Tuesday, pro-Palestinian protesters also confronted police outside Mayor Adams’ home.
